I first got involved with pottery in 1991, when Adult Education Pottery classes at Ladue Horton Watkins
High School and Saint Louis Community College at Forest Park offered a creative outlet during my
graduate student years. Mostly throwing on the wheel, but also hand-building when the mood strikes,
I have since worked independently, honing my skills in a variety of pottery studios, including several in
the American Midwest (Gustavus Adolphus College in St. Peter, MN and Lill Street in Chicago, IL),
the Northeast (the BCAE and the Massachusetts College of Arts, both in Boston, MA) and across the
pond (at the East Surrey College Adult Education Centre in Horley, England).
Recently, almost 20 years after the pottery "bug" first hit, I've finally fulfilled my dream of having my
own studio and becoming a full-time studio potter. My studio, Rincón Pottery, is located in the green
hills of Cruces, Rincón on the western coast of Puerto Rico. The view from my studio windows is of palm
trees, tropical fruit trees and rolling hills dotted with houses. Inspiration is not a problem!
My work is fully utilitarian: designed to be equally comfortable on the dinner table and the
mantelpiece. It is made of white mid-fire stoneware, which is fired to cone 6 (~2175°F) in an electric kiln.
My pottery is lead free, food-safe, and microwave/dishwasher-friendly.
